Strong Place Music is a fully independent record label launched in the fall of 2019. We work with artists and projects from all over the world: New Orleans, Cuba, West Africa, Mississippi, Los Angeles, Memphis, Nashville & New York. In just our 3rd year of operation we were thrilled to have a release win a GRAMMY at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards in the Best American Roots Performance category (Aaron Neville & Dirty Dozen Brass Bands' "Stompin' Ground" from the Take Me to the River: New Orleans compilation/soundtrack) The label’s President and Owner is John Sopkia, a 30 year record label executive & artist manager. He has held A&R posts at major labels (Reprise, Island/Def Jam) and indies (Artemis, V2) and has managed celebrated artists including Regina Spektor, Dawn Landes & Chris Garneau.
